June has a separate area from the chickens since i dont want the chickens to eat her food or kitty litter and i’m sure she doesn’t either. June does like to explore however so for Christmas i built June a pet door so that she can go in and out of her coop whenever she wants.
Unfortunately she doesn’t understand the concept quite yet.
Weirdo my “special” EE hen with a crossed beak laid her first egg. Easter Eggers are a mixed breed that carry the blue egg laying trait found in breeds such as the Ameraucana. Easter Eggers can lay blue, green, and sometimes pink eggs so I was eagerly anticipating which one she would end up laying. When the day finally arrived which I thought might never happen I ended up with green. I think the puke green color suits her strange personality well.
Good job Weirdo! Now get to work on laying me some hams.
Isn’t she gorgeous?
There is only so much you can do before you accept the fact that something or someone isn’t going to get better i suppose. I tried everything i could; vitamins, poultry podiatry, hand feeding to try and keep his weight up, and i even put him in a sling.
Even with me helping him eat he still wasn’t eating enough. He remained small while his brother’s and sisters grew. The only way he seemed to grow was more crooked. I didn’t mind because i thought he was adorable no matter what but i could tell he wasn’t happy.
He wasn’t eating and he could only limp and flap around in a circle when he wanted to move. I think he was getting kind of fed up with his body not working correctly. He is gone now.
I miss you and love you.
Rest in Peace Mort

I got an incubator recently and put it to use. I wasn’t sure if the eggs would hatch but after waiting and watching for 21 days the end result was 8 cute little oddballs of fluff.
The monsters currently live in the basement in a 55gal fish tank (no they aren’t swimming around) that i converted into a brooder.
Sadly my camera is busted. I dont have any money for a new one so I will have to use my dad’s camera for a while. The picture quality isn’t as nice but beggars cant be choosers i suppose.

(Mort was in his egg for too long and so he has a crooked neck/hunched back. I helped him hatch and hand-fed him until he was strong enough to feed himself)
